Message from the AFCC President
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the African Federation of Clinical Chemistry―AFCC, it is my great honor and privilege to warmly invite you to the 8TH AFCC Regional Congress, to be held on July 16–17, 2026, at the Nairobi Hospital Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.
This year’s Congress is guided by the timely and impactful theme: “Contemporary Interests and Innovations in Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine: Bridging Precision Diagnostics, Public Health, and Patient Care.”
Africa is at a pivotal moment in the advancement of laboratory medicine. Our Congress will serve as a vibrant platform for clinical laboratory scientists, researchers and clinicians, public health experts to come together, share knowledge, and forge lasting collaborations. We aim to bridge the gap between cutting-edge diagnostics and the real-world challenges faced in resource-limited settings across our continent. The Scientific Program Committee has developed a rich and multidisciplinary agenda covering key topics that reflect both global innovations and Africa-specific priorities, including:
- Laboratory-enabled measurable better outcomes in healthcare
- Point-of-care testing and essential diagnostics in resource-limited settings
- Toxicology, pharmacology, and therapeutic drug monitoring in Africa
- Clinical biochemistry and omics for chronic disease precision diagnostics
- Newborn screening: current status and future opportunities in Africa
- Laboratory quality management systems, accreditation, and harmonization
- Laboratory informatics and digital transformation
We are also pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts is now open. I encourage you to submit your research and share your insights with colleagues from across Africa and beyond. Abstract submission will be closed May 31, 2026, with notifications of acceptance sent by June 1, 2026.
